"I’ve been running Cycle Fitness for about 20 years. We’ve floated along pretty good for those 20 years. Late in '08 and into '09 things got ugly... I used to go to the trade shows in the fall to see all my old buddies and shake hands and gamble a little but this year I decided to get serious, so my wife Peggy and I went to the trade shows with a mission to figure how we were going to turn this year around.
I told my biggest vendor at the time (who is was in pretty deep water with) that I was going to turn this thing around somehow and I ended up at the WhizBang! Training seminar. I met Bob and bought the Retail Mastery System and got started.

A Fresh Start
Right from the very beginning it seemed like the right thing to do. As soon as I got back to the store the number one thing we did is we cleaned the daylights out of the place. I mean we repainted we hung new slate wall, we did everything we could to re-invent the store physically.
During the winter we worked hard on hiring people. Because of the Retail Mastery System I knew what questions to ask and what to look for when I’m interviewing and hiring someone. I'm convinced I weeded out some potential messes...that was spectacular.
Probably what I spent the most time on winter and into the spring was just training my people. We created our own training videos we had training meetings we created our on steps to a sale and at the same time we kept track of our statistics. We review these all the time I can't tell you how much that has motivated my employees to sell.
At the same time we don’t do commissions anymore, we just do like it says in the Retail Mastery System - we set a store goal and if we meet that goal everybody gets a certain amount per hour over...verbatim to what’s in the Retail Mastery System.
We put the WhizBang! Bonus Program to work and were up 15% in a down economy. I really feel like we’re just scratching the surface on this too!
We increased our hours by two full days a week, we are handing out gift certificates like crazy and I can only think of two customers out of all the customers that have used their gift certificates that didn’t double their purchases.
If a struggling retailer bought the Retail Mastery System and they just did exactly what it said I would guarantee you it will turn your business around.
I’m living proof and I haven’t even implemented everything yet!
My numbers are going to go through the roof again next year.
In 2008 into 2009 we were down 15% and that translates to about $100,000 that’s a huge nut. We implemented this program just about a year ago and I’ve increased my numbers by a solid 15%!"
