Retail Marketing Tip

Tip #375 Just Be-Cause...Marketing, that is!

Dear Tip of the Weeker -

Everyone has favorite businesses that they like to frequent for different reasons.  Maybe they sell a product assortment that you love, maybe you get a warm fuzzy feeling from the store's atmosphere, or perhaps the staff always knows just the right things to do to make the customer experience special.  So you recommend these businesses to your friends.  It's the concept of endorsement and we talk about the business-building power of this strategy all the time here at WhizBang! Training.

You can take the concept of endorsement and make it even more powerful by working with local non-profit agencies and other worthwhile causes.  It's called Cause Marketing and it's the basis of this week's Tip.  Why?  Just be-cause we like you!  (Collective groan...)

Want some great, new quality customers?  Try partnering with a cause, often it's a local non-profit organization, usually to raise money for the organization, while raising your profile in your community and acquiring new customers.

Here's the gist of it- the charitable organization gives you access to their member list and you donate a percentage of all the sales their members generate for your business.  There are a number of variations on this basic theme that we explore in the Retail Mastery System.  But for this Tip, Bob and his son Joe have worked together to create a fun video from one of his favorite businesses in Wisconsin, Louie's Finer Meats.  Check it out:

Here's the great thing about partnering with a cause - the people who are members of the organization are usually passionate about the cause or the goal of that organization. If they know you are affiliated with their organization they are likely to become loyal, devoted customers.

You get to help a local organization and get some new, quality customers at the same time.  Give it a try, it's a win-win!
