Tip #420 - Partner with the Police
This week's Tip is a really fun partner promotion and a great way to get your gift certificates out into the world. It comes from an experience that Natalie's daughters had at a birthday party a couple of weeks ago.
The birthday party included a boat ride along the Grand River and into Spring Lake. Everyone was having fun in the sun when suddenly a police boat pulled up behind them with lights flashing and sirens blaring...
The girls (not to mention the parents!) were a little freaked out at first, but instead of giving them a citation, the sheriff's officer gave them a special award since everyone in the boat was wearing their life jackets!
Every girl on the boat got this special award - a gift certificate for a free ice cream cone from our favorite local ice cream mogul (and friend of WhizBang! Training) at any of their four stores.
The officer actually signed and dated each of the "tickets" and the girls LOVED it.
Even if you don't have a nearby lake with water cops, and even if you don't sell ice cream cones, this idea can be adapted to use with any local law enforcement agency (or other authority figure) that wants to reward good behavior and improve their image.
- Police could hand out "awards" for free dog biscuits to pet owners who have their dogs on a leash or are following some other local ordinance.
- Principals or teachers could hand out "anti-detention slips" to kids caught helping others that are $5 gift certificates from a bookstore.
- Bus drivers could hand out "tickets" to passengers who are helpful, considerate, or kind.
